I had this customer today.......
He he he such random gossip but what ever I get so many interesting customers and stories I have to share them somewhere.
A lady and her daughter came into my shop today and she was after a black leotard, pretty common item if you ask me so I pointed her in the right direction and helped her with sizes etc and loaded her daughter up with a few to try on.
I asked the lady what it was for and she said for a school play which is fair enough but then she continued to tell me that this was the easy costume she had to purchase, her other daughter she was supposed to get a 1940's outfit.
I started thinking of what I had in costumes out the back as I hire out dance troupe costuimes and I have some solo stuff as well and I asked what is 1940's and she said well to be specific it had to be 1942-1950 or something like that and she had already bought something off the internet which was a blazer like jacket with slight puff sleeves and a straightish A line skirt. I said oh yeah fair enough but then she continued... so I took it up to the school for them to view as they had requested and they said it was 1953 or something and slightly the wrong era so now I have it at the alteration place getting some of the puffs removed.
Wow I know how much these alteration places charge she thinks it will be between $40 and $80. Goodness knows how much she paid for the outfit in the first place, I can't believe what the schools are making the parents do these days for a school play. When I was at school the textile teachers made all the costumes and the school kept them and stored them in wardrobe for future productions. So unreal the money these parents are paying, I couldn't believe it. My daughter is what what kinds of things am I going to be paying for when she is at school??????
